Statement of Service

This website is part of Guidance Enterprises which aims to provide the highest possible standards of service.
Guidance Services offers Careers Information, Advice and Guidance Services to people of all ages in the communities we serve; subject, in some cases, to eligibility criteria.
Some of our services are funded externally; however this does not affect the quality of the service you receive.

How to Contact Us
Our full Information Service is available during Centre opening hours. You may, however, need to make an appointment for some services.
There are a variety of ways to contact us if the Centre is closed or if it is not easy or convenient for you to visit us in person.

What does Guidance Services offer?
You can visit our centres as often as you like to use our up-to-date careers and labour market information resources. These are either printed or ICT formats (including Internet Access)
We can also offer:

  • advice on the choices of qualifications and courses open to you
  • guidance on your choice of career and career path
  • help to explore your options in further and higher education, training and employment
  • information on, placing into, employment and training for young job-seekers
  • help with developing your job hunting skills
  • for young adults, support as often as you wish from our Personal Adviser team who will help you find the option that's right for you
  • advice on training, re-training and career change for adults
  • psychometric testing

    Most of our services are provided at no cost to most young people under the age of 19. Over 19s may have to pay for some services. A member of our staff will explain any costs and eligibility criteria on your first visit to our Centre.

    Telephone Calls
    Your call to our Centres will be answered within 7 rings
    We will tell you who will be speaking to if you need to be transferred in response to your enquiry.
    If the person you want to contact is not available at the time of calling, your call will be returned within 3 working days.

    Writing to Us
    All correspondence requiring an answer will be dealt with within 5 working days. If this is not possible in detail, an acknowledgement will be sent, notifying you of who is dealing with your enquiry and when you can expect a full response.

    You can contact your local Centre by email. Your email will be responded to within 3 working days.

    How we can act on your behalf
    We are committed to working within a network of Information, Advice and Guidance agencies. Where we do not hold the information that you require, we will either obtain it directly for you within an agreed timescale, or use our links to introduce you to others who can help.

    What you can expect from Us
    We will treat all people without prejudice and give you equal access to our services, within the confines of our funding arrangements. Our advice and guidance services are unbiased and without pressure from opportunity providers.
    We can provide materials to meet the needs of our clients in large print, Braille, different languages, or on cassette. Please enquire if you require these services.
    The service provided at our Centres complies with a number of national standards. These include Investors in People, IS09001 and MATRIX.
    Our guidance information and advisory staff are appropriately qualified and/or working towards a nationally-recognised qualification at NVQ 3/4 or equivalent.
    We adhere to all current data protection legislation.
    We adhere to the codes of practice of the Institute of Careers Guidance. Copies of all Standards and Codes are available from a member of staff at the Careers Centres.

    COULD YOU DO WITH SOME EXTRA HELP TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CAREERS CENTRE?
    If you need some extra help to be able to use the Centre, please ask a member of staff. You may find some of the following information helpful.
    If you have a Hearing/Communication Impairment and need assistance:-

    Arrangements can be made with prior notice for a local communicator to be present at a Careers discussion
    If you have a visual impairment, cannot see very well and need information produced in large print or translating into Braille or ontoAudio tape:-
    This could be arranged with prior notice
    If you need Information translating into different languages:-
    A translator could be made available with prior notice and if needed translations of certain information could be obtained
    If you find information difficult to read:-
    Arrangements can be made to make our service standards available in a range of formats and languages. Please ask for details.
    You could use our computer programmes, some of which use photographs and speech with clear easy to read wording.
    Where appropriate- some information could be translated into symbols.
